I've seen a lot less of him since he met a gal a few months back, He hasn't been to the last few meetups. I might have to give him a call and see how he's doing, let him know people are looking for him.

when you write a letter to bethel, you will receive an acknowledgement letter.
it usually starts by stating the date of your letter, and they restate the general question or matter you wrote about.
then they will give a non-committal answer, and encourage you to study and preach.
I wrote a letter at the suggestion of the CO, with a lot of questions on how a certain molester's judicial case was handled and why he was ever reinstated, twice.
After several months, I got back a letter basically telling me nothing and slamming me for having the nerve to dare question Jehovah's wonderful organization.
The letter to them was me giving them one last chance to demonstrate how well their actions measured up to their words. They failed. I left.

i have only been on a couple of committee's for actual apostasy, and in one the brother never showed, and in the other, the person said they don't want to be a witness.
but in having experience as an elder and a c.o., and in reading this forum, here are my suggestions.. do not say:.
"i don't believe that the faithful and discreet slave is god's channel" - why not?
I still like the one I heard somewhere, when they call to invite you to the meeting, ask for the details, like when, and where, and then ask if any of the elders will be armed?
C'mon that there is funny, I don't care who ya are!

omg!
want!!!!!!!!!.
I'm sorry, my reaction to that was just, Meh.
When will Star Wars quit recycling the same plot, Darth somebody vs. some goody-goody Jedi? The bad guy there was a total Vader ripoff, except he had only a partial face mask. And the good guy looked remarkably similar to Ewan McGregor's Obi Wan. Oh look, the Sith have taken the Jedi by surprise and are invading their club house!

this is podcast 8 in the death or obedience series.. this was recorded on christmas day 2008.. after our last visit from two local elders my wife felt she could no longer be known as a jehovah's witness and had chosen to disassociate herself in november 2008.. we had been on a family holiday and had returned to find that one of the local elders who had visited us had warned off my mother-in-law from having anything to do with my wife - her daughter.
he also made false statements about one of my children.. i decided to confront this elder at the kingdom hall.
this podcast is the recording of our conversation.. notice how he denies making such statements to my mother-in-law and falsely accuses me of teaching her beliefs contrary to jehovah's witnesses.. i ask whether it's a sin to no longer be a jehovah's witness?.
I've learned the hard way confronting an elder although some times beneficial and in some cases even necessary, it's usually a no-win scenario...
I firmly believe that as a result of this conversation this elder initiated judicial proceedings against me the following month.
I rest my case.

right now at bethel, they are laying off and reassigning again.
if you have cancer or some other illness, you are a liability and it's time to pack.
i remember the night when we had the special talk about there being a great need in the field and some would be sent out.
Those of you new to the board may not be familiar with Gary, he doesn't mince words when it comes to how he feels about the organization. He calls it as he sees it. I find his outlook refreshingly honest.

i was born in 1964, 50 years after 1914. even in my teens i was doing the sums.
i had a worse case scenario figured out - if the 1914 generation could apply to babies and even if they lived to be a 120, i would still only be about 70 years old after they'd all died!
i figured i was part of the first wave of 'jehovah's people' that really would live to see the new order - guaranteed!!
I too believed the end was going to be here any day now, I remember being told by my dad that I would never graduate high school. I remember hearing talks about "responsible child-bearing in the time of the end", remember that classic? And yet just this week, my loyal JW sister, aged 43, became a grandmother. How could that be?
I just feel like shouting at my JW family members:
IT'S 2009!!! THE END IS NOT HERE!!! WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE!!

a letter was read at tonight's meeting announcing that the governing body has decided to stop work on saturdays at all bethels worldwide.
bethel workers are encouraged to now spend saturdays with their local congregation in field service.
the new arrangement goes into effect june, 2009.. what do you think are the motives for such a change?.
Motives? Obviously the Governing Body has recognized that more time needs to be devoted to the field ministry, especially on the part of those serving at Bethel. No doubt their example will impel others to follow their example and have a greater share in the ministry each Saturday, especially as we recognize just how close we are to the end!
But seriously.... somewhere, in some jursidiction, there has been, or will be, a change in how "volunteer" workers in religous organizations are viewed re employees, deserving of minimum wages, or overtime pay, something like that. Every thing they do nowadays is driven by how it will affect them legally/financially. Just ask the Bethelites at the Spanish Branch.

terry sent this to me this morning...... .
imagine being given the opportunity to reboot an old and beloved tv series with an uneven history of spotty films which pretty much had run its course.. j.j.abrams did what only a one in a million director could do: he knocked the ball out of the park!.
this film is outrageous fun!.
You know, I really tried to go into this movie with an open mind. I understand that times change, a fresh start was needed, new actors etc. But it just didnt work for me.
Star Trek became popular because it was the first intelligent science-fiction show(with the possible exception of the Twilight Zone). This movie had no glimmer of intelligence anywhere within it. It had lots of action, lots of explosions, lots of shakycam and lens flare, and a plot with holes you could manuever an entire fleet of starships through.
Kirk as he is portrayed in the movie is an obnoxious punk with all the worst attributes of the original and none of his better qualities, not even a hint of how he could develop into anywhere near the kind of legend the original Kirk was. And yet somehow he goes from being a cadet facing disciplinary action to the captain of the flagship of the fleet!
Of the rest of the crew, Quinto's Spock was fine, McCoy was fine, Sulu was underused but interesting, I didn't even mind Scotty being the comic relief, he was hilarious. Chekov was horrible, Wesley Crusher with a really fake accent. Uhura was interesting, the romance angle was also interesting but like many other parts of the storyline came off as a bit contrived.
And then there was Scotty's little friend, another Jar-Jar Binks. He was funny at first, on the outpost, but then he also shows up on the Enterprise! Cause thats just what Star Trek needs, is a hilarious little alien mascot!
